DFI Day 1-2019

Traveling through time, just like our tīpuna did from Hawaiiki to Aotearoa to understand just how Manaiakalani first embarked its footsteps here to Aotearoa. It was awesome to see the growth in student achievement with the use of digital devices.

The world of Google is more than just the average web server that we use, with its usual apps such as
that we use daily. There are hidden shortcuts, windows that are always enjoyable to discover and learn about.
Diving into Google Docs even more has been great. Reminds me of being in IT class back in college and learning new tricks, links and cuts to make things simpler.

For many of my students, they are new to the concept of Chromebooks and the world of Google.
Initiating the formats and platforms from the beginning such as using Google docs, and setting the page up together will be a starting point. However, I do have student's that are already familiar with Google docs, there is always room for improvements and developing.

At first, I thought add-ons and extensions were all about coding and decoding apps, however it was the total opposite. Its about being able to provide other options and other applications to make the document/s better for the users while working in Google Docs.

I enjoyed meeting and being with everyone today. Looking forward to next week.

Signing out for now!

  2. Kia ora Kahurangi,

I haven't even looked at add-on's but I do agree about setting up docs etc from the beginning. Just today I had a senior student who couldn't find his work and said that he had a lot of Untitled Docs. So we set up a doc in a folder so he would always be able to find his work.
